‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ – African proverb.

For the next decade, I see urgent needs for two programs. I have walked this walk as far I can with my limited financial resource. I appreciate any help.

  • Donation to support my continuing works.
  • Knowledge of resources to support these projects in terms of people, institutions, and organizations.
  • Your expertise and time as needed for these initiatives.

Vision 1.  ToxoCure

Chronic brain parasitism by Toxoplasma infects over 2.5 billion humans. This brain infection correlates maybe with neurological diseases, such as Schizophrenia, Suicide Risk and Rage Disorders. We have published evidence that the brain parasite may also activate gene networks associated with the neuropathology of Neural Cancer, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’ Diseases (see Brain Parasitism).

There is urgency to find cures. We must shift the current paradigm.

We need to support the research community in this long journey. Supports come in four parts. First is increase funding for neuropathology and drug discovery of Toxoplasma. Second is more urgency for human clinical studies. Third is to advocate for more integrated approach to Toxoplasma research. Fourth are more communications, accountability, and rewards from the public affected by these diseases.

I propose to develop ToxoCure as a platform to kickoff this transformation. The primary mission is to promote communications between different silos. We raise support for scientists to do their job. ToxoCure brings integrated information for scientists to work with more efficiency in finding cures.

The strategy is to synthesize large databases in biomedical research and disperse the information by social network analytics and marketing. The principal of this initiative must have expertise in Toxoplasma and holistic grasp of different sciences and silos. Different sectors of society can take the journey together from basic research to bedside medicine by engagement from social media.

We must fix the environmental messes we’ve created on our planet for our younger and future generations to inherit. One of the highest urgencies is to prevent (mitigation) and prepare (adaptation) for climate disruption due to global warming. The world commits to a reduction in global warming with the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.  Now, urgent actions are needed at the national and local levels. ‘Next Elm City’ aims at city and ‘Next Blue Orb’ targets local communities across our country.

Vision 2. Next Blue Orb

The largest cause of global warming and impediment to global solutions is the United States of America. At the moment, our country is facing a significant problem in misinformation and mistrust of science and in particular the science of global warming. In 2015, the majority (55%) of US population believes that climate change is not a serious problem. Views about climate change break along partisan, gender and generational lines in the U.S. We must bridge the divides across urban and rural America to transform from the ground level.

We must shift the current paradigm. A creative solution is to tap the STEMM population to become agents of change in their own community. The ten most trusted people in any US rural town or urban local community are: Nurses, Pharmacists, Medical doctors, Engineers, Dentists, Police Officers, College Teachers, Clergy, Psychiatrists and Chiropractors. Eight of ten are professionals of STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine).

The mission is to wake the STEMM population, making up ~5% of US, that is most credible and trusted in their community to take ownership of the climate and environmental crisis. They are also the most qualified individuals to judge the science of global warming. They are the most effective communicators to their local citizens and government to help local solutions.

Next Blue Orb reaches out to this population. We let individual decides whether they can be a more trusted advocate to guide the directions of their own town and community. We apply our knowledge in climate communication and science to provide information, tools and organizational structure.

The principal of this initiative must be versatile to understand and talk with different STEM professions and diverse groups of society.

Vision 3. Next Elm City

Greater New Haven is lagging in climate mitigation and adaptation. Local climate movement ramps up to Paris Climate Treaty in 2015. This grassroots movement morphs into the demand from 33 local organizations to the city;  New Haven must develop a climate and sustainability plan. City government and communities are drafting together a “Climate & Sustainability Framework”. Last City Climate Action Plan drafted in 2004 received publicity but remains in a folder somewhere in a dusty cabinet. We must learn from past mistakes.

We must shift the current paradigm. Long-term transformation for climate mitigation and adaptation must be a close partnership between different silos of New Haven. The planned structure must include city government, Yale University, public and business sector.

The principal of this initiative must have internal footing in and ability to communicate with each silo.
